ive said it b4 and ill say it again: these cars are the stance whores of the porsche world...
It makes perfect sense, and you seem smart enough to get it!

Those guys that build their cars for the perfect flush stance do it for purely aesthetic reasons. If you see someone pulling up in a Golf with 18x9s and 10s, slow down, then air the suspension out to where the tire is making contact with the fender you can rightfully assume that type of car isn't going to see any track time. The stance kids build their cars to hard park and be featured in one of the many HD videos with a dubstep soundtrack. I like the flush movement, many in here do not.

The reason the flush movement is hated by so many is because it ruins what most see as the true purpose of the car. Take a Golf, unarguably one of the more popular "stanced" vehicles, for example. Volkswagen has built a reputation on the small, nimble, excellent handling hatch. When you bag it on a wheel/tire combo that doesn't actually fit it kind of ruins the dynamic the car was originally intended to uphold.

These Rauh-Welt Porsches are clearly meant to be driven. If you watch any of the videos associated with them they are working on, driving, or racing the cars. They clearly do exactly what they were supposed to do, and in the spirit of modification, do it better.

I love Rauh-Welt as a whole and whole heartedly support anything that helps more of them hit the road. That 1552 car is nuts and those Split Tarmacs are one of the best looking wheels I've ever seen!

TL;DR: Flush ain't functional, RWB is.

Every time I see a thread about these conversions, they always show the owner of rwb working on them.
I understand this is a stupid question, but does he do all of these conversions himself? Or is that just the way the media covers it.

Also, I think in japan they do their engine work themselves. Speedhunters had a few articles on him, and the mentioned something about it
Supposedly its not a true RWB porsche/car if he doesn't personally do some work on it. They also use some local (to them) engine builder which also contributes to the "mystique" of a true RWB porsche which makes me wonder why they have opened RWB USA and what type of effect this will have on the specialness of each car.

We're about to begin a new Hoonigan project that is truly right up TCL's alley

hoonigan, combination of hoon and hooligan (both of which sound 'exotic' to americans), is the perfect label for a serious japanese euro-tuning company that has a sense of humor about itself. i dont know ANYthing about marketting, but this makes more sense than McGriddles.

Hooning: The act of being a hoon or driving recklessly, racing, doing burnouts etc.

That is where the name came from. They will be making a clothing line I am sure..

Dude, that's a bit extreme, no?

I know the terms hoon and hooligan have less than glamorous meanings to people from other countries (Aussies, especially), but Hoonigan is a US company and mixing the words hoon and hooligan together is nothing more than a tongue-in-cheek reference to having a good time in an automobile.

As a matter of fact, when Ken Block and MWRT visited Australia for the WRC leg an Gymkhana 4 World Tour, they teamed up with the Aussie government in spreading their "Hoon Responsibly" campaign

But wait! Europeons are so much more sophisticated - they watch "real" football not the crap that drunk American watch... and they do so while discussing how to make the world a better place while sipping on wine and driving finely tuned luxury hatch-backs that are environmentally friendly and run on unicorn diesel.

      Brad,

I've got nothing against the Hoonigan branding... My post was about unleashed's "exotic" comment when discussing an American's reaction to the terms hooligan and hoon. You know, the typical TCL eurosnobbery.

      this thread is for lovers...

loving the purpose built rawness the RWs have. lemme check if i've got my Powerball numbers in order, and I'll be making a trip... First to Singer to build a car for me, then to Raul Welt for finishing.

and another congrats to 1552 and Brad! I spent plenty of money over the phone with Steve B. back in the day, and continue to enjoy what you bring to this community.

dare I guess that this is Ken Block's car? Why doesn't he just start dating Giselle so we can really hate on him?!

LOL to the newbies that don't like "tacked on flares" and equate RWB with the Stance fad
